Privacy Policy

The Farmers Pantry (“we”, “us”) runs a marketplace app that connects local food producers with the people who buy from them. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the app or this website, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
In short: we collect what we need to run your account, orders and messages. We don’t sell your personal information and we don’t show ads. We share details only with the producer or buyer on your order and with the companies that help us run payments, shipping, email and notifications.
Information we collect
Account details. Your name, email address, password (stored only as a one-way hash), and optionally your phone number and profile photo.
Orders. What you buy or sell, prices, delivery or pickup choice, the delivery address you enter, order status, tracking numbers, refund requests, and the ratings and reviews you leave.
Payments. Card payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. We keep a Stripe customer reference so you can reuse saved cards, and payment status for each order.
Producer information. If you apply to sell, we collect your business name, address, farm location, story and practices, and the licenses, permits and certificates you upload, so we can verify you. Producers also connect a Stripe account to get paid. Stripe collects the identity and bank details it needs directly.
Messages. We store the messages you send to other members so they can be delivered and shown in your chats. Our team doesn’t read your chats. If someone in a chat reports it, our team can read that chat to look into the report.
Community content. Posts, comments, likes, follows, favorites and reports you make.
Location. If you allow it, the app uses your phone’s location to show producers near you on the map. That location stays on your phone. If you apply to be a producer, you can use your location to fill in your farm’s location, which we save with your producer profile.
Device and technical information. A push notification token for your phone (if you allow notifications), and standard server logs such as IP address, time and the request made, which we use to keep the service secure and working.
How we use it
- To create and secure your account, including password reset emails.
- To process orders and payments, calculate shipping, buy shipping labels and show tracking.
- To verify producers and keep listings accurate and safe.
- To deliver messages and send notifications about orders, messages and the community.
- To answer support requests.
- To review reports, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our Terms of Service.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
Who we share it with
- The other side of your order. Producers see the buyer’s name, the items ordered and the delivery address needed to ship. Buyers see the producer’s business details, and the pickup address once the producer accepts a pickup order.
- Other members. Your name, photo, posts, comments, reviews and ratings are visible to other members of the community.
- Service providers who work for us under contract:
- Stripe (payments and producer payouts)
- Shippo and the shipping carriers (shipping rates, labels and tracking)
- Google (address suggestions while you type, and Firebase push notifications)
- Mailgun (sending email)
- Our hosting provider (storing data and running our servers)
- Legal reasons. When required by law, or to protect the safety and rights of our members, the public or us.
We do not sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information while your account is open. When you delete your account, we remove your name, email, phone, photo, saved cards and notification tokens, hide your posts and comments, and take down any listings. We keep order and payment records, with your name removed, for as long as tax, accounting and legal rules require (generally up to seven years). Producer verification documents and reports may be kept for as long as needed to prevent fraud and meet legal obligations.
Your choices
- Update your details from the Account screen in the app.
- Notifications: turn them off in the app settings or in your phone’s settings.
- Location: turn off location permission for the app in your phone’s settings at any time.
- Delete your account in the app under Account → Delete account. See how to delete your account for other options.
- Access or correct your information, or ask a privacy question: email us at business@farmers-pantry.com or use Account → Help & Support in the app.
Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), store passwords only as one-way hashes, and limit who on our team can access personal information. No service can be perfectly secure, so please use a strong password that you don’t use anywhere else.
Children
The Farmers Pantry is for people 18 and older. We don’t knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make important changes, we’ll update the date at the top and let you know in the app or by email.
